Kingsborough is an urban village style residential development which is the brainchild of local Canberra developer John Gasson. Nestled behind the buzzing Kingston Foreshore, it offers something a bit different for Canberra’s inner south. The design brief for the project focused on a variety of built forms which recognizes the history of the area. This has been achieved by engaging with 4 different Architects; each given different briefs to fit with the developer’s intention to create a unique Village.
Split over the various distinctive blocks, Kingsborough is made up of 280 apartments, terrace homes and warehouse dwellings, with a common area village square, a wide variety of retail tenancies, a gymnasium and pool and luscious shared gardens that tie it all together.
Completing the electrical construction packages on the Powerhouse, Warehouse, Shophouse and Woolstore blocks and also all of the common areas, we worked closely with both the builder and developer to deliver a high end finish on this one-of-a-kind project.
With a composition concept of off-form concrete ceilings and precast surfaces that made the electrical design and construction a challenge, the installations for the various unit types were carefully planned and strategically executed to successfully deliver the consultants’, and various architects’ intended design brief and intent.
Also completing fit-outs in many of the associated commercial tenancies, we have been involved with the electrical installations in the gymnasium/pool, the café, Ascentum Psychology and a number of other retail spaces as well as the unique common area external lighting. Switched On Electrical Services have truly stamped their mark on this contemporary Canberran establishment.
